Did you know, you can get YOURSELF pregnant? According to Kelli, all you have to do is “Google it”.
On last night’s episode of Insecure, “Lowkey Losin’ It” (one month before the block party), the girls got together at Tiffany’s house, to show some love to Tiffany’s newborn baby girl, Simone DuBois (who apparently looks like Kelli?).
The awkwardness started before Issa and Molly could even park their cars. These two “BFF’s” continuing to awkwardly drive and stop into the same parking space, is a perfect example of how, small moments of misunderstanding can be easily been avoided with clear communication – which is something these two have been running from, these past three episodes. Eventually, Issa gives up and parks at the church next to the titty bar because “they don’t check”.
Before they walked into the DuBois residence, Issa apologized for missing the last few selfcare-Sundays and Molly says, she was too busy with work anyway. Molly then asked Issa “You still wanna do it though, right?”. Instead of saying “First, can we talk about how extremely weird our relationship has been?”, Issa says “Yeah I want too” – as if Molly was holding a gun to her head. They both “agree” to rescheduling, but it’s clear that it doesn’t matter what day selfcare gets moved too, neither of them want to be around each other at this point.
Tiffany wasted no time having a drink after a long nine months. With cocktail in hand, Tiffany tells the girls that the doctors wouldn’t listen to her when she told them she wasn’t feeling good and EVENTUALLY they found out that she had a blood clot!
We appreciate the Insecure writers for using Tiffany’s experience to shed light on the fact that, black women’s concerns are often fatally ignored by healthcare professionals. “Can you yelp review a maternity ward? Cuz imma give them three stars, three!” We noticed that Kelli only seems to get serious when it’s about her BFF, which makes us love Kelli 10x more.

Molly Pinkett-Smith, makes a point that – it’s nice how Derek was there for Tiffany because “that’s how you build a long lasting relationship”. Issa jokes back saying “Damn Jada, I see you out here red-table-talking”. Molly didn’t laugh. Thank god the baby monitor was there to interrupt the tension, Molly followed Tiffany upstairs to see the baby and Issa stayed with Kelli. Kelli reassured Issa that she “wasn’t missing much”.
You know a best friend beef is real, when you start talking trash to about each other, to OTHER friends. After accusing Issa of “f*cking Andrew” and trying to drink Tiffany’s breast milk – Kelli tells Issa “Maybe she’s [Molly] just taking sh*t out on you, you know? You should tell her”. Tiffany gave Molly similarly good advice, saying that it could just be a simple “communication breakdown” and that Issa is “probably feeling the same way too”.

Thank you, Tiffany and Kelli for being good friends by not adding fuel to the fire! We would hate for Issa and Molly’s relationship to get destroyed by some he-said she-said nonsense. We prefer to watch them destroy their own relationship by themselves.
Oh yeah, Lawrence was there too. He apparently had “something” important to tell Issa but after watching her deal with School Boy Q dropping out of her block party, he decided to keep his “something” to himself.

But what’s up with your girl Martin?
Condola hasn’t been returning any of Issa’s calls or text about the Block Party – leaving all the hard work to Issa and her assistant Sapphire.
Speaking of ghosting, did we mention that Issa got a “I see you doing your thing” voicemail from Nathan? As a loyal member of #IssaHive, we do not approve of Nathan contacting her at all.
As Issa scrambles to find a new headliner, she calls Molly to see if Andrew can leverage his connections to find a new performer. Molly was disappointed that Issa was calling about business instead of their own issues but she reluctantly agrees with “I guess I could ask”.

It’s also important to note that before Molly “agreed” to ask Andrew, she basically cross-examined Issa assuming that she broke her contract with School Boy somehow. That could play a part in Molly deciding to change her mind and not ask Andrew to help Issa. We love her but Issa has a history of screwing up and Molly wants to “protect” her growing relationship with Andrew. So we see why Molly was trying to “protect” Andrew from Issa’s track record. Although, it would be silly to assume that Molly’s answer wasn’t also influenced by the fact that she feels like Issa has been a bad friend lately.
On episode 4’s “wine down”, Issa Rae describes her character feeling “Hurt, Betrayed and Confused” by Molly’s decision and points out that, Issa may have been taking Molly’s loyalty for granted.
We are interested to see how/if Molly decides to support Issa and what that might do to ruin their friendship on next week’s big block party episode.
