Episode 1 “Lowkey Feelin Myself” showed fans that Insecure still hasn’t lost its touch. From the "swaggy" outfits, to the beautiful black performances, all the way down to the groovy sound track, Insecure is what the culture has been desperately missing. Quality.
Before the premiere, writer/creator/star of the show Issa Rae, told fans on her IG live Q&A, that she wanted to explore the idea that "some people are here for a season and some people are here for a reason”. Little did we know, she was alluding to her relationship with her BFF Molly!

The episode starts four months before the block party and Issa on the phone saying (in a very confident/ominous tone) that she “doesn’t really f**k with molly anymore”. This makes every scene with Issa and Molly ten times heavier because we all want to know, when will it all go wrong? I hate to say it but it’s time to start asking important questions. Are you #IssaHive or #MollyHive?
The first chasm opened up at the end of the episode when Molly tells Issa “You know your life doesn’t have to be this messy right?”. Ouch. But is Molly wrong?

Issa is planning her block party with a smart and savvy public relations specialist who also happens to be her ex’s new girlfriend. Molly might have point. Or is she projecting her own messiness on to Issa? Once again we find Molly ready to dive into a relationship with another guy that doesn’t seem ready. Molly is still dating Andrew from the famous Coachella episode and last season they left off with Molly dragging her baggage from her recent
sexual relationship with her married friend, into her
new relationship with Andrew. The pot calling the kettle messy.
Other than watching the foundation of a perfectly good friendship crumble – fans loved seeing Tiffany and Kelly being Tiffany and Kelly. Hopefully we get more scenes with all four of our girls together. Although asking for another wild Coachella-type episode might be too much to ask from Tiffany, who seems 7-9 months pregnant. Although Amanda Seals's playing pregnant Tiffany was still HILARIOUS.

Between Kelly bartending/selling her body and Issa’s trashy tenant trying to seduce her gay brother because “everybody loves titties”, the drama still doesn’t distract you from the hilarious and alarmingly relatable humor that makes the series even more addictive.
Although Issa has “no man and no job” she still seems like she’s in a better place than last season. Her causal relationship with new “TSA bae” doesn’t seem like it will provoke any angry mirror raps and her block party is starting to come together. Things are finally getting better for our awkward queen and we love to see it.

Issa Rae told fans that she is excited to see how we react the first five episode and the last five episodes. Apparently, the writers will switch up the way they tell the story, halfway through the series. Will the last five episode be post block party? Will Issa and Molly stay friends by episode 10? Will Issa finally take the tags off her clothes and stop returning every outfit? Tune into HBO every
Sunday night at 10pm to find out.
